If you like collecting parked domain names and keep them parked with a notice like “this website is comming soon” - why not earn extra money from monetizing your parked domains names.

GoDaddy.com , a leading domain name registrar has launched CashParking - an online domain monetization system that easily lets you earn money from your existing domain portfolio. Each time someone clicks through advertising on your parked pages, you share in the revenue.

How does it work?
You pick the CashParking revenue share tier that fits your budget, add your domains to your CashParking portfolio (unlimited domains names can be added), forward traffic to GoDaddy.com name servers or to change your name servers to the GoDaddy.com parkweb. They show ads on your domain’s parked page and you earn money quickly as per the revenue share you purchased.

Depending on your CashParking plan, you will receive 60%-80% of the generated revenue. You do not have to register your domain names with GoDaddy.com to take advantage of CashParking. Domestic customers will receive payment monthly, while International customers will receive payment quarterly.

Did you know you can also use Google Adsense for Parked Domain Names!

Google AdSense for domains allows domain name registrars and large domain name holders to deliver targeted, conceptually related keywords and advertisements to parked domain name pages.

Google AdSense for domains’s powerful semantic technology dynamically analyzes domain names and displays targeted ads and related searches based on the meaning of the domain name. The ads are derived from the Google AdWords network.

AdSense for domains customers redirect traffic from parked domain names to the AdSense for domains service, which returns formatted HTML that includes contextual ads and related searches and even XML output for large customers.

Your network of sites should generate 750,000 page views per month to be eligible for the AdSense for domains service. This a unique way to make extra money from your parked domain names. I suppose several big domain name registrars are already using this service.

Google is sending out invitations to select top Google Adsense publishers to join the AdSense Online Advisory Council, a select group of publishers who offer input on new AdSense products and features and help to make them better.

Darren Rowse says emails were sent to an unknown number of publishers in the last 24 hours inviting them to join the secret council. He posts the excerpts of the forwarded emails.

“As a member of the Council, you will have the opportunity to:
- Contribute to a community of other respected publishers in the council
- Test new features and products before they are released to the general public
- Provide direct feedback to the AdSense team on how we can better serve our publishers”

Darren asked in DigitalPoint Forums if these emails were legitimate and not spam. Search Engine Roundtable says it is legitimate since the email was sent from adsense-research@google.com, and he got a similar email in February 2006 from the same email address with the subject “AdSense Beta Council Invitation.” (Did he join?)

Did you get an invite to the AdSense Online Advisory Council?

Google AdSense Optimization Webinar was held on June 30, 2005 at 4:45 p.m. PDT with support of top Adsense staff to to help publishers make more money as quickly as possible.

The focus was on a few different optimization tips ranging from ad position, format, color, the placement and some additional features that you may or may not be aware of. Not all of these implementations will work for every site, so experiment to get the best results which suits your site.

Some excerpts are quoted below-

“So the wider ad formats are doing better than the other ones and the reason is that they actually take up fewer lines. And so with every additional line, you have a chance of losing that interested user.”

“the top three formats are the 336×280 that you see on the page; the 300×250 medium rectangle; and then the 160×600 wide skyscraper.”

“The reason the color palette is so important is because it adds to the content and not separate from the content and what happens is, something that we call ad blindness; so the more you blend in with the site, the less chance that ad blindness will occur.”

“Another thing to decrease ad blindness is rotating your color palette. We have a feature in the AdSense account where you are able to multi-select different color palettes that blend with your site to add some variety and freshness to the ads. And that also will help decrease ad blindness.”

“make sure that in your account, you’re opted in to image ads. And the reason for that is that you basically have the image ads competing with the text-based ads. So if you have more advertisers competing on your site, it basically means more opportunities for you to maximize your revenue

“What the link units do is it allows the user to refine what they’re interested in. So if they may not be interested in specific ads on your page, they might be interested in a particular topic, and by clicking on a link unit and a link in the link unit, they’ll be able to specify that they’re interested”

“you also make a little bit of money whenever they click on the ads that come up on the search results. So this is definitely something that you’d want to consider; AdSense for Search.”

There are several more top tips and discussions there for higher CTR and how to make more money with Adsense on this blog. Check them out..

What was my Adsense Optimization tip?
“After an automatic review of your sites, we think you might be able to improve your monetization using the following tips: You may be filtering ads that monetize well on your site.”

First important point to note is that its an automatic review. So no human Adsense guy has actually looked into the optimization issues on my site. I do block a very few urls who spam my site by irrelevant ads, so that is a reason I got this message. Possibly I am blocking a few high paying clicks…

Anyway it might prove useful to those who are missing a tip to increase Google Adsense earnings. Also it provides a useful way in which Adsense staff can send you messages about your account without worrying that it might get blocked in your email spam folder.
